  • Head of RE (£5k Golden Hello)

    The Abbey School

    Salary MPS/UPS + TLR2c (£3,214) & R&R

    The Abbey School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic Head of RE who is committed to excellence, to start from September 2024.

    The successful candidate will be a creative and dynamic practitioner and leader who will be able to strive the development of our already thriving Religious Education and Studies department, and help drive forward our agenda of continuous improvement.

    This is a permanent, full-time role, paid on the basis of the School Teachers Pay & Conditions MPS/UPS, dependant on experience, with an additional TLR2c (£3,214).

    The school is offering a recruitment incentive of £5k. This is split into the following payments - £2.5k subject to the successful completion of a 6 month probationary period, and a further £2.5k to be paid in September 2025 as a retention incentive.

  • Head of Modern Foreign Languages (£5k Golden Hello)

    The Abbey School is seeking to appoint a member of staff to join our MFL Department. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic, talented, and passionate Head of Modern Foreign Languages, to start from September 2024.

    We currently offer French and Spanish to over 50% of the cohort at GCSE and all students take MFL in KS3. The department has recently expanded their offer into A-Level French and there are strong proposals to offer A-Level Spanish in the near future. This is an exciting time to be joining the school, with the current subject lead having been appointed into Senior Leadership. The department achieves the highest outcomes in the school at GCSE and is well resourced, with highly committed staff.

    As a leading department in the school, you will have excellent subject knowledge and be confident that students in your care will make exceptional progress. This is a great opportunity for someone to join a team which is forward-thinking and focused on doing the very best for every student. Students have high participation in lessons and there is a great energy and ambition to succeed.

    This is a permanent role, 32.5 hours per week, paid based on MPS/UPS, dependant on experience, with an additional TLR2b (£5,350).

  • Teacher of Maths (£5k Golden Hello)

    The Abbey School are seeking to appoint a member of staff to join our Maths Department. The successful candidate will be someone who is an enthusiastic, talented and passionate Teacher of Maths, to start from July (Term 6) or September 2024.     The Abbey School is seeking to appoint an Internal Suspensions Lead who is keen to support and guide the education and development of young people within the school, to start with immediate effect.

    This is a full time, permanent role, Term Time Only, paid on the basis of the Kent Scheme Pay Scale KR7 (FTE £26,515 - £28,850 - actual salary is calculated on a pro rata basis).

  • Cover Supervisor

    The Abbey School

    Salary Kent Scheme Pay Scale KR5 (FTE £24,040 - £25,002)

    The Abbey School is seeking to appoint a highly effective Cover Supervisor, to start from September 2024.

    We are looking for an individual who is able to work calmly and independently with young people.  Applicants should have at least GCSE or level 3 BTEC qualifications and a minimum of GCSE English and Mathematics at C Grade (or equivalent). Experience of working with young people of the relevant age would be an advantage.  This position is seen as an ideal stepping-stone for those wishing to gain experience of schools to support an application for Graduate Teacher training.

  • Administration Assistant

    The Abbey School is seeking to appoint a highly effective Administration Assistant, to start from June 2024.

    The successful candidate will act as the first point of call for all visitors and callers, manage telephone enquiries and provide administration support to the school community, with specific responsibility for supporting the Heads of Year and Pastoral Team with the administration of student suspensions. The candidate must have a meticulous eye for detail and be a keen team member..
