The Abbey School was pleased to welcome Helen Whately MP for a visit on Friday 28th November. During her visit, Ms Whately delivered a talk to students about her career journey and development into becoming a Member of Parliament. She spoke about the responsibilities of public service, the importance of democratic engagement, and the experiences that shaped her path into politics. Students were then given the opportunity to pose their own questions, with many offering thoughtful and challenging perspectives on current issues. Ms Whately engaged openly with the discussion, encouraging students to think critically and take an active interest in public life. “We were delighted to host Ms Whately and to give our students the chance to hear first-hand about the realities of parliamentary work. Their questions showed real maturity and curiosity, and we are proud of the way they represented our school.” The Abbey School looks forward to continuing to provide meaningful opportunities for our students.
We are grateful for the time given to our students.
