From Distinctions to Russell Group: The Abbey School, Faversham, celebrates record Sixth Form success
Sixth Form students at The Abbey School, Faversham are celebrating the school’s strongest results on record - with 98% of vocational entries passing and 63% earning Distinction or Distinction*, almost double the national average. A Level results also improved, with A*-C grades rising 4 percentage points on 2024. For many students, these results mark a transformational journey - from overcoming pandemic learning disruption to securing places at top universities, apprenticeships, and skilled employment.
Headline Results 2025
- A Levels - A*-C 54% (+4pp on 2024), A*-B 23%, A*-A 3%
- Vocational courses - Distinction/D* 47% (~2× national average), Distinction*-Merit (87%) Pass rate 100%
- Top Value Added subjects – Finance, History, Politics and Criminology
Principal Dr Roly Speller said:
The determination of our students shone through on results day. These outcomes reflect not only academic talent, but the resilience, ambition and character of our young people, supported every step of the way by our dedicated staff and the wider school community.
Student success stories include:
- Grace Emery - Achieved and A* and A including the school’s first ever A* in Business.
- Max Woodfine and Jemima Woolley - Each achieved a double starred Distinction in Sport alongside strong academic grades.
- Nina Connell, Nael Fazal and Philip Rafeletos – Achieved a clean sweep of B grades across three subjects, meeting or exceeding all predictions.
Year 13 student Grace Emery said:
I couldn’t believe it when I saw my results. I had fun doing my Business Studies exams and would happily do them again! I have achieved what I need for my place at University.”
Head of Sixth Form Mrs Natalie Crouch added:
Seeing our students surpass their own expectations is what makes our job so rewarding. This year’s results prove that hard work, the right support, and belief in yourself really do pay off.
Many students will now go on to Russell Group universities, specialist arts institutions, degree apprenticeships, and skilled employment, contributing to Kent’s growth in healthcare, finance, and creative industries.
